Intro to CAD 1
CAD1 teaches mechanical drawing and how to use drafting tools. After you study the mechanical drawing and tools you use computer aided drafting software to complete projects. In the beginning of this class, I was not a fan of all of the mechanical drawings. As time went on and we started to use AutoCad and OnShape I realized how important it was to start with mechanical drawings before moving on. Doing that made the computer aid drafting easier to understand and easier to correct issues. In the beginning I thought this class was going to be very difficult, but in the end I liked this class and I have been thinking about taking CAD2 and now am interested in architecture.
Mechanicals
Mechanical drawings are drawings on paper that can be single view or 3D view of an object where you are showing different dimensions. You use specific tools to make straight lines or curves.
AUTOCAD
AutoCAD is a computer aided design and drafting software that allows you to draw using different lines, objects and tools that make drafting a lot more accurate, easier, and faster.
OnShape
Onshape is a computer aided design program in which you can sketch and make 3D objects. You start by sketching it out and then you can extrude the image and make it 3D. You can use a lot of different tools to change what the object looks like. With this software, if you make a mistake you can go back to that sketch and change it and it will auto-correct on the image.
Architecture
Architecture is the art of designing buildings and structures. There are 6 types of architecture: Domestic, Religious, Governmental, Recreational Welfare and Educational, and Commercial and Industrial.

3D Printing
3D printing is where you make a physical object from a 3D digital model. The printing is done by placing many layers of material one after another from a printer. The reason I chose the cup is because it is something I made in this class and I wanted to 3D print something I made instead of 3D printing something that someone else made.
Conclusion
What I have learned and gained from the course was the ability to hand draw objects while using tools on a piece of paper and learn how to use different programs to create drawings and make 3D objects as well as dimension them.
